A Hi Jane, thanks for the postcard. How did you like your Roman holiday?
B I had a great time, but it wasn’t picture perfect.
A What happened?
B Well, the first ‘incident’ happened near the Coliseum. Everybody around seemed to be having a picnic, so I thought when in , do as the Romans do, and I started eating the sandwich I had made at the youth hostel. There were some signs in Italian, but it was all to me. All of a sudden, two policemen came out of nowhere and gave me a fine. The signs said something like it was forbidden to eat your own food there!
A That sounds really strange. How much did it cost you?
B Thirty euros. But listen to this. The following day I met this Canadian guy and he invited me to dinner. At first, I thought that I wouldn’t go out with him for all the tea in , but I was running out of money, so I thought what the heck, and I accepted. You won’t believe what he did when the waiter brought the bill. He said that he thought we were going ! I told him he was an asshole, pardon my , and ran away because I didn’t have any money.
